What We Collect
Sketchy Label requires no account. When you run a scan, we handle the following data:
Label Images
When you scan a label, the image is sent to our AI for ingredient extraction. Images are not stored after analysis is complete.
Ingredient Data
Ingredient names and safety ratings are cached in our database to avoid repeated AI lookups. This data contains no personally identifiable information.
IP Address
We record your IP address solely to enforce daily scan limits and prevent abuse. This data is not shared with third parties and is not used for tracking.
How We Use It
Data is used only to operate the service. Specifically:
- check_circleIngredient ratings are cached so repeated lookups are instant and do not require additional AI calls.
- check_circleIP addresses are checked against daily scan limits to keep the service sustainable and abuse-free.
- check_circleBot protection tokens (Cloudflare Turnstile) are verified server-side before each scan to prevent automated abuse.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering your analysis result.
Third-Party Services
“Sketchy Label has no financial relationship with any brand, manufacturer, or retailer. Our ratings are determined solely by the ingredients themselves.”
We use the following third-party services to operate the app:
- Convex — provides our database and backend infrastructure, storing ingredient ratings securely.
- Anthropic Claude AI— performs the ingredient safety analysis. Images and ingredient text are sent to Anthropic's API and are subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — a bot-protection challenge shown before each scan. It verifies you are human without tracking you or using invasive fingerprinting. Governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.
We do not use analytics trackers, advertising networks, or social media pixels.
Your Rights
We collect as little as possible and only what is needed to run the service.
